Monday Hops

I am linking up with Java @ Never Growing Old.

Java will add a linky so we can follow who participates and get to know them  better!!  Be sure to link the POST and not just your whole blog!

Questions:

1.  What do you put on your hot dog?
2.  Do you play Sudoku?
3.  What is your favorite vegetable?
4.  Do you color your hair?
5.  What is your favorite brand of clothing?

MY Answers:
1.  I am a burger girl but when I eat a hot dog, I want it with the works.  I like mustard, coleslaw (or sauerkraut), pickles, onion, hot peppers...Yum!

2.  No, I do not play Sudoku.  I bought a book about a year ago and it is still sitting beside my desk.

Looks like a challenge!

3.  My favorite vegetable would be fresh sweet corn. Loveland has an annual Corn Roast Festival in August. The corn is fantastic, there is music, a talent show, corn shucking and eating contests, vendors and rides for the kids.  The festival has a wonderful small town feel and it is one of my favorite times of the year.

4.  I have been coloring my hair for so many years that I hardly remember the original color. Luckily my daughter, Tiffany, is a hair stylist. I pay her but probably not as much as she normally charges for a color and cut. Recently, my gray roots have been showing up much sooner then I would like and I have toyed with the idea of getting my hair cut real short and letting it go gray.

I wonder if I will look like The Old Gray Mare?
At least she is smiling!

5.  My favorite brand of clothing is J. Jill but I am really not picky. Give me a pair of  jeans, a shirt from Target, and I am just as happy.

Weekend with the GRANDS!

Two weeks ago, when Erin went to Phoenix for her marathon,  I had Emma, Jonah and their cousin Jaycie for the weekend. I love to have the Grand Kiddo's, and it is even better when they are able to stay for a few days.
Emma, Jonah and their new puppy, Lucy, stayed Friday night and Jaycie joined us on Saturday.
I was somewhat leery on how the kitties would take to Lucy but it all ended up OK.

Chloe hid during the day but made her grand appearance at night to sleep with me!  On the other hand, Cecil hissed, swatted, and chased the puppy!  Now, do not feel sorry for Lucy because she did her fair share of chasing!

I had such a great time with the kids! We played cards and Scrabble, baked and had a wonderful weekend.
Emma and Lucy
Why do the young girls wear different colors of sock's?  The girls have been doing this for the last few years and Nana just does not GET IT!  I will say, there are a few good things about this fad.  For instance..you do not have to match sock's when you get them out of the dryer.  And speaking of the dryer..it always seems to eat a least one of the sock's..well this no longer matters!

Cecil, staying his distance from the puppy!

The Turbo Track I bought for the Kitties!

I bought this great, or so I thought, toy for the cats. The cats will walk by, give it a swipe or two, then ignore it the rest of the day.  Lucy could not get enough of it..she wanted to play with it all the time.  Would it be wrong to re-gift to a puppy?  Hmmmm!!??

We played several games of Scrabble and it always seemed like I ended up with all consonants.

"I am winning!"

All during the night, Emma and I were pretty even but Jonah was always way ahead of us in points. Little did we know, he was using the option Best Word!  Luckily, he could only use the option four times...then we made our move!

Jaycie joined us on Saturday afternoon and Jonah went to spend the night at his Daddy's house. I hated to give him up but felt it was important for him to spend one-on-one time with his Daddy.

Grandpa Bill was now surrounded by WOMEN!  He did not have a chance with us girls.  And Cecil, being the other male, was not any help!
The Three Girls, two drinking Cocoa.

Emma had a dance class Saturday morning from 10-11:30.  When I picked her up she informed me she had left part of her costume at home and ( giving me those Sad Eyes) she did not know what to do.
Now I remembered what it was like to have a teenager at home! I drove her back to her house where she quickly retrieved her costume, climbed back into the car, and showered thanks and told me her Mommy would have been mad at her for leaving the costume.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!  My girls used to tell me, minutes before we had to leave for a recital, that their tights had a hole in them. And me the rescuer  being the wonderful mother that I was, would scramble around and save the day for them.

This time, Nana saved the day and had her back to the studio, by 1:00, for a second class. Then it was back to pick her up at 2 (she did not get out until 2:30) and by the time we went to the store, to buy three decks of cards, we finally got home after four.  I forgot how tiring being a teenagers chauffeur could be!

When we got home, I was able to sit and have a drink quiet moment to myself.  Do you think this lasted long?  Oh, No Way!  Hubby was hungry. I went to the kitchen and made dinner ordered pizza.
Ordering pizza, online, gave the kids quiet a laugh. For some odd reason I kept messing up the order, thought I had ordered twice, lost the site, got back to the site ( all the while the kids were laughing so hard I thought they would pee their pants) and after a gazillion attempts, placed the order.

After dinner, we played cards until Nana could barely keep her eyes open, then the old farts  Nana, and Grandpa Bill, went to bed while the kiddo's stayed up to watch movies.

Sunday morning we went to church.  After the service,  Chris ( Emma and Jonah's daddy) picked up Emma so he could take her to a dance rehearsal in Denver. He then had to chauffeur Emma, and Jonah, back to our house that evening.

We had a great time that night, playing more rounds of cards and drinking hot chocolate. Earlier in the day  we went to the grocery store and bought Jumbo Marshmallows.. Have you seen them?

I would say they are about 3X3..90 calories per one marshmallow! I Love Marshmallow's!

If I remember right, Jonah had his cocoa with a marshmallow and whip cream!   Remember: What happens at Nana's, Stays at Nana's!

Monday, at about noon, Erin came over to pick up the kid's. We had just finished a batch of cupcakes and she helped us frost and decorate them. I wish I had taken a picture of how pretty they turned out. They made scratch yellow cupcakes, with pink butter cream frosting topped with a maraschino cherry.

I was so sad to see them go but it was a great weekend and another chance to make our Memories.

Monday Hop

I can not believe it is time for  Java's Meet Me On Monday Blog Hop!  Come along and link up to this fun meme

Questions:

1.  Do you like your ice cream in a dish, waffle cone, pretzel cone, sugar cone or cake cone?I like Ice cream, it does not matter how it is served! Since this is a question..If I have to choose..it would be a sugar cone.

2.  Do you read the newspaper daily?

No, I do not read the newspaper everyday. In fact, here is the sad thing, I pay for the paper to be delivered daily, then I take it to work and everyone reads it but me!

3.  Marinara or meat sauce?
Meat sauce, no question on this one.  Hubby will not eat pasta without some kind of
meat sauce, and that is the way my mother always made it.

4.  Last time you cried?
I can not remember the last time I cried..really cried. Today I was very upset ( my heart was in my throat) after reading Erin's, my daughter, finish time in the Phoenix Rock N Roll Marathon.  Erin completed the Canada ironMan competition in August then continued her training to try to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Today she was in Phoenix to run a qualifying time. After reading her time I thought she had not qualified and my heart was broken knowing how hard she had trained. She had some hip problems this week and I was worried that this would hold her back. When she called I told her how proud I was and asked her how she felt....she sounded so up beat...SHE DID QUALIFY!!!   Since Boston is full for 2011...we will all be going in 2012!

5.  What word/phrase do you find really annoying?

The phrase that makes my hair curl every time I hear it is:

You know what I'am saying

When someone says this after a sentence, it is like finger nails on a chalk board!

Thank You Joanie for the Stylish Blogger Award

I was so surprised to receive this award from Joanie @ Joanie's Random Ramblings.   What a surprise and an honor!

Now what I have to do are these 4 things:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

Seven things about myself.

1. What you see is what you get! I think that sums it up about me. In fact, if you want to know something about me all you have to do is ask. I am an open book, I tell it all. I probably tell more than I should. When I was in grade school, I was always in trouble for talking and that carried through to high school...and on..and on!

2.  I love to watch reality shows. My favorites are American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Hell's Kitchen and Project Runway. I also like anything on Animal Planet.

3.  I belong to a bible class that meets at church every Thursday morning. We meet in the small chapel for music worship, break up into our groups for study and then meet back in the chapel where our Pastor reviews the lesson and answers questions. My group is a delightful group of women that encourage each other in our path of learning. We laugh, pray, learn..sometimes have treats..and I love these women.

4.  I recently cut back to three days a week at work. This has most definitely put a strain on ye 'ole pocket book, but it has been worth it. I have the perfect job with no weekends or holidays but during the last few years work has gotten in the way of my social life!  LOL!!   Actually, since Hubby is retired, it gives us more time together plus allows me a day all to myself.

5.  I  would rather read the book then watch the movie.  I can become more absorbed in a book and the movie is always a let down to me. For example, recently I watched Eat, Pray, Love ( yes I was a little slow to see the movie) and I fell asleep both times I tried to watch it. On the other hand, I could not put the book down.
I did watch the Twilight movies but felt they lacked too. Maybe I am reading the wrong books!

6.  I was a Scorpio and now I am a Virgo. I do not know what that means but I saw the breaking news Friday morning! What about the person that has their astrological sign tattooed on their body..Now What Do They Do???  What a tragedy!

7.  I would love to own a Cupcake store. Do I know how to make good cupcakes..NOT.
I just think it would be a fun job and then I could be on the reality show Cupcake Wars!

The next step is to pass the award on to 15 recently discovered blogger's. Since I have discovered so many new blogs that have been a joy to read, I have decided to grant this award to everyone that reads my blog. If you stop by for a visit, please accept the Stylish Blogger Award and pass it on!

Fridays Hops

I am linking up with  Java @ Never Growing Old..Come along and have some fun.

Hospital Drugs.....way to strong for this old gal!

LOL!!!!
When I reread my post this morning I could tell I was still under the influence of the drugs! In fact, I only have a dim memory of writing the post and the last part made me laugh when I read it.
All is better this morning and I am off to work. TGIF, I hope everyone has a great day.

Good news!

All is good!
I had the endoscopy this afternoon and the Doc was able to start dilating my esophagus. I will have to repeat the procedure in 4-6 weeks, then hopefully that will be the end. He took a couple biopsies , which is standard, and I should have the results back by the first of next week. I had a delightful male nurse who put me at ease and was able to start my IV in one stick, which is challenging. Also, he gave me enough drugs to knock down a small horse, which I greatly appreciated.
Hubby stopped at DQ on our way home and bought me a yummy blizzae! When we got home it was dinner and he heated sone Southwestern soup,

So long for now,
Thant yours thoughts and prayers!
Shawn

I am Hungry

Today I am having an Endoscopy to find out why I have been chocking on my food.
The chocking does not happen every time I eat but it is often enough that it has become a major annoyance.  Being a nurse, the last thing I want to do on my day off is go to the hospital but I had better get this over with.

So, here it is..YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!     It is past eleven so now I can not have Clear Liquids. Will I waste
away? Of course not, but I sure feel that way now!
So, wish me luck and pray that the nurse gives me enough drugs!
