Thirty Days of Thanks

I am so behind on posting and hope to get caught up before the weekend.

Today, day 16, I am thankful for a new session of Bible study at church. We are studying Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon, I did not pick up my new study guide until Sunday so I am a tad bit behind on answering the questions for class tomorrow morning.

I will try to get back on track soon.

Blessings,
Shawn

Thirty days of Thanks..day 9

Today I am thankful to be walking again. No more scooter!
I have to wear the boot for two more weeks, then I will be completely free! Woo Hoo!
Hopefully, I will start running (very short distances) in four weeks.

Thirty days of Thanks..day 6,7 and 8 all rolled into one!

I have read several sad stories on FB, the last few days, about pets that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge or are nearing the end of their time here on earth.  Loosing a beloved pet can be as heartbreaking as loosing any other family member. I dread the time when I will have to say goodbye to my pets and pray it will be a long time coming.

Today I am thankful for my furbabies, Chloe, Cecil and Winston, who have brought so much joy into my life.  They have enriched my life with the type of  love only a pet can give. They have brought out a soft, tender side of Hubby, that melts my heart.

Adopting Winston from rescue, has opened my eyes to the needs of so many animals waiting to find their forever home.  Hopefully when I retire, Hubby and I can help a rescue group with fostering or transport.

I am thankful for my pets and the blessing they have been to our family!

Thirty Days of Thanks

Today I am thankful for a warm cozy home. Our home may be small, sometimes clutterd, I may need to vacuum the cat hair off the carpets but I have a home.

I know what it feels like to loose a business, I have been there. I know what it feels like to sell a home that has lost it's value during a market crash, I have been there. I know what it feels like to not know where the money will come from to buy groceries, I have been there.
I have been there, but I survived. Not only survived but became a stronger woman.
I Pulled myself up, worked harder and began the long process of building my life back.

Nobody is immune, it can happen when you least expect it. Life is a trail with peaks and valleys. It's the way we handle the valley's that makes us appreciate the peaks that much more! I have been there.

I am thankful I have a home.

Thirty days of Thanks..

I have so much to be thankful for, it is hard to decide what I will write about each day.

I am thankful for my family!  When Bill and I got married we joined two large families. Then, when my birth daughter (Wendy) located me, we added her family. I feel like one of the luckiest women in the world. Even though we will probably never be together at the same time,  I like to fantasize on what that picture would look like!

A big Thanks to Mimi Lenox, who started a world wide blog movement in 2006.

Today, she has asked bloggers to dedicate their post to World Peace!

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

Thirty days of Thanks..

Today I am Thankful for a commentary I heard, on Channel 9 News, Tuesday night. In today's world, where it seems like every religion is OK except Christianity, I have become disheartened with the mainstream media. That was until Tuesday night when Drew Soicher, a Denver sportscaster,   gave a commentary on the new fad, Tebowing.

As I am sure you know, Tebowing is going down on one knee, in a prayer position, mimicking Tebow's (Bronco quarterback) prayer after a Bronco win two weeks ago. Was he the first sports player to offer up prayer after a game, absolutely not.  But, because of his notoriety, fans and people around the country have taken up the act of Tebowing. I guess this means that Planking is gone and forgotten.

I will be the first to admit, I am not a sports fan. I feel players get paid entirely too much for playing a game that does not mean a tiddly darn in the whole scheme of life. Also, I have been embarrassed for the Bronco Organization when one of their star players ends up in the Pokey. However, when Tim Tebow was hired two years ago, I admired his refreshing attitude. Here was a sports figure who was not afraid to acknowledge his Faith and Family, always putting them before his chosen career.  He is grounded, and that is what I like! And yes, I have watched a few of the games this season.

Anyway, back to my story. Tuesday night after hearing Drew Soicher's  commentary on Tebowing,  I almost stood up to applaud, sing the Hallelujah Chorus or dance a jig because I was that impressed with Drew, a member of mainstream media, sticking up for Christianity.

AMEN

Thirty days of Thanks.. Day 2

Today I am thankful for my Hubby!

Hubby has been a trooper while I have been on non weight bearing orders. I think he has been amazing with cooking meals ( he normally doesn't cook), cleaning (even the cat liter), walking Winston, helping me get in, and out, of the Condo with my knee scooter and makes sure I have everything I need before he leaves the house.

He has been the Man I knew he would be in this kind of situation.  He is loving, romantic, caring, practical, uplifting, makes me laugh and reigns me in when needed!

What more could a girl ask for?

Now on to the Journey.

I was watching Dr. Phil yesterday..I know!!
Anyway, he gave advice on how to reach a goal. The most important thing I learned was the need to make a time line.  I have made many goals in the past but some were not reached because I pushed them to the side, while I went on with life. So, for me, it makes sense to set a date of completion to keep me on track. For instance, I need to set a date when my sewing project needs to be completed. I need to have one Apron done by the weekend...and so on!

I remember when I was making five junior bridesmaids dresses for my son's wedding, I allotted myself a certain number of days for each dress. Then, I set a date for the dresses to be completed, pressed and ready to pack for the trip to California.  I think that was the one, and only, time I have ever worked on any type of timeline. And, to be honest, I had not remembered that timeline until I started typing this post.

One of my Goals is to set time lines.  I believe this will help with my PROCRASTINATION!

My Scripture for today is:
Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. (Acts 12:5)

We have all seen the power of prayer one time, or another, in our lives.  Prayer is Powerful!  We must remember not to limit but to expect great things from God, our Heavenly Father.

Just for grins:

I know many are praying for a reverse in this decline!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Thirty days of Thanks.. Day 1

Today I begin the Challenge. I do not know why it is considered a challenge, maybe I should change it to Gift or  Honor.

Today, I am thankful for my Savior!

The Journey Continues

Today's scripture:
When the cloud remained...the Israelites..did not see out. (Numbers 9:19)

This scripture spoke to me. So many times, I have rushed for change instead of waiting for guidance. I have been willing to jump out on my own, instead of sitting still and listening for the words of a path better chosen. These are the times that I have been led in the wrong direction and times when my life took a path that should not have taken.

Be still, listen and wait.....
