Meet Me on Monday!!

Welcome to the 20th edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday I will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

"Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!!!"....as quoted by the Chacogirl!! I will make this SIMPLE and FUN!!!

I will add a linky so we can follow who participates and get to know them better!!  Be sure to link the POST and not just your whole blog!

My answer to the question do you give out Halloween Candy and if so what kind:

My daughter usually has a Halloween party for the entire family but this year the older  Grand kiddo's want  to be with their friends. Because of this, everyone will be scattered on their side of town. My Hubby and I  are leaving soon to make the rounds and take pictures of the kiddo's in their costumes, then we will head back home! This will be the first time in thirteen years that we have been home to hand out candy and I bought Tootsie Rolls, my favorite right under Candy Corn, to hand out to the little goblins! Hope they will like it and we have a lot  of children show up!

Manicure and Pedicure Day!

I have put it off for way too long.  Today is the Day!

Two days ago but found the darlings in the same place today!
The Sun feels so Good!
See what I mean!

Wow! Way too long!

They do not like Mani and Pedi day but they tolerate it.

So much better!

Today they sat so still and because of that we did not get close to the quick!  For their patience and good behavior..How about a Treat!

The Grand Kiddo's

The Big Kiddo's

Nana,  Grandpa Bill and their Pumpkins!

Yummy Dinner last night.

I have to give credit to The Carter Family Table for our yummy meal last night.  I made Nichole's Slow Cooker  Shredded Chicken Tacos and the flavor was fantastic. I started the meal before I left the house to run errands and when I walked in the door the wonderful aroma of spices made my mouth water. Since there are only two of us, we had plenty of leftovers.  My hubby wants the same meal tonight!

Everyone should visit Nichole's site and check out her recipes. Today she posted a Steak and Potato meal that I will have to try next!

Carpets

I have always wanted wood floors because I felt with the Grand Kiddos and the two cats it would be so much easier to take care of than carpet.   Unfortunately,  Hubby feels ( and rightly so) that I have spent way to much on upgrades in the Condo and we will never get the money back in this depressed market. So, since summer is over and I do not have the kids on Wednesdays and Thursdays,  I thought today would be a good day for US to clean the carpets.

We went to the grocery store and bought some liquid cleaner for our Bissell Pro Heat cleaner. By the way, this is not a commercial and by NO way do I represent the company!  I will tell you that I have enjoyed having this and not paying a professional carpet cleaning company. Also, the results we get are just as good, if not better, than any company I have used.

On with my story. We got home and Bill, the Hubby, put the machine together, sprayed the carpets with the spot remover and started the process of cleaning the carpets. I was in the bedroom vacuuming when I heard the carpet cleaner turn off. I checked out what was going on and Bill said the machine was not working! Oh my gosh, now we have the oriental rug rolled up, furniture moved and the darn thing is not working.

Hubby working on the cleaner!
Let me just start by saying that my Hubby can fix anything! Bill has an amazing talent for being able to take things apart, fix them and then put them back together. He works on everything from cars to appliances and it has saved us a ton of $$.

Still working!
Cecil helping!
Me helping with my feet up on the couch!

Unfortunately,  today, Bill was not able to fix the machine. He will now have to take it to our house in Loveland where he has a garage full of handy, dandy tools.  One thing I know for sure, the cleaner will be fixed and hopefully we can shampoo the carpets next week!

Poor little guy,  get well soon!
On a brighter note, I took a picture of one of my favorite trees at the Condo which has just started to turn colors. Hope you enjoy it!

So pretty!

New Monday Hop

Just found a new Monday Hop over at Beckham and Bloom..check it out!

I am supposed to be cleaning the carpets with Hubby so for now I will tell your about a recipe i found at The Carter Family Table..you should check her site out!

In the crock pot you put skinned, deboned chicken breasts with onion, garlic, chunky salsa, chili powder and paprika. Mine has been cooking on low for 4 hours and the smell is heavenly. When cooked you shred the chicken and serve with the juices, cilantro, chopped onion and a squeeze of lime juice.  I am going to have flour tortillas with mine and maybe some Basmati rice! This will also be good for tacos or enchiladas.

I have tried her button but so far it has just taken me to Blogging with Success. Must be something wrong.

Meet Me ON Monday

This Hop from Java  at Never Growing Old is a fun way to get to know your Blog Friends!

Questions:

1. Do you sleep with a night light on?
2. What do you drink with dinner?
3. Do you play the lottery? If so, how often?
4. How often do you go to the grocery store?
5. Would you rather travel back in time 500 years or travel forward 500 years?

My Answers:

1.  No, I have never slept with a night light on. In fact, as soon as the sun shines in the window, I am wide awake.

2.  I drink a small glass of red wine and water, or tea, with my dinner.  Wine is good for the heart!

3.  I play the lotto every week  ($1-2) with a group of friends at work. We have been doing this for years and each one of us is afraid to drop out because that will be the time we have the winning numbers. Now, wouldn't you like to see a group of hardworking nurses from Colorado win??!!

4.  I go to the grocery too often and I am trying to break the habit! Since it is just Hubby and I at home I do not think we need to hit King Soopers or Costco two times a week.  Oh, I remember,  we go to Costco for a free  lunch and I end up spending 100$( no, I do not spend that much every time!) !

5.  I guess I would rather travel forward because I am amazed at the technology now..can you imagine what it will be like then. Actually, I like my life right now and would like to stay in the right here and now.

Contentment

We had a very interesting sermon at church today given by Pastor Tim.  The sermon was on contentment and what makes a person content with his  life.  I think it was very poignant as we move toward the holiday season.

Pastor Tim told the story about a man who was asked what would make him happy: the man stated " When I make a million dollars.".  A man that makes a million dollars was asked what would make him happy; The man stated " When I make two million dollars, then I will be happy."

What does make us happy or content with our lives. Is it the things we accumulate, the keeping up with the Joneses,  the big car in the garage,  or could it be the large home and our fancy clothes?  As Pastor Tim said, "We came into this world with nothing and we will leave with nothing". He then went on to say that it is alright to want to provide for our family but we should be content if we have clothes and food to eat. The things we have do not bring contentment.

The Gospel lesson was  Luke 21: 1-4

Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in  two copper coins. And he said, " Truly, I tell you, this poor widow had put more in than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

Pastor Tim then told of a woman who attends the Thursday "Table" meal and worship. This woman, because of hard times, lives in a motel with her husband. She told the story of sharing her "home" with others that live under a bridge. She invites them over for showers and fellowship.    She, who has so little, shares the MOST!

The sermon ended with three ways to contentment:

PRAYER- Live a life of prayer.

PRAISE-   Pray unto God then give him praise.

PERSEVERANCE- Persevere and Proclaim the Love of Christ.

As you know,   I do not Blog about my Faith or Religion, today this touched me and in these tough times it is nice to be reminded what, and Who, is important.

Thanks for the Birthday Fun

I want to thank my family for another wonderful birthday! The dinner Friday night  at CB & Potts was fantastic even if we were all freezing in the back room where they put us!Amber and Erin came from the pumpkin patch where they had taken the kids to get their pumpkin's and annual fall pictures. Sorry I did not get off of work in time to join them. Mary, Shawn and Sarah were there but Ryan had a sleep over birthday party to attend. Loved my Hamburger with the many, many calories of fried cheese. Thanks for the gift certificate to the running store, I will use it to buy some winter running garb.

Emma Won!
Not this time, Jonah took this one!
Jaycie and Emma enjoying their meal!

Sarah, our Irish lass!
I can not believe that these were all the pictures I have to share but we were having such a good time laughing and talking I forgot to snap some more.

After dinner we were off to the Asylum ( spook house) with Shawn, Emma and Jonah. We are the brave ones in the group. Erin, hope you enjoyed your nap in the car!!  The wait was not as long as I thought it would be but it was sure cold standing in line. When we were finally let in, I was leading the pack with Bill bringing up the rear. Jonah kept his hoody over his head and looked down for most of our journey. Emma screamed, I screamed and I could hear Shawn laughing almost the entire time.  When we exited the tent there were a few men standing around, little did we know the fun was really going to start. All of a sudden a man came running from behind us with a chain saw blaring, you have never seen two kids run as fast as they did!! Oh my gosh, it was so funny!  We all enjoyed the spook house and it added another great memory. I can not wait until all the kids are old enough, and brave enough, to join us!

Yesterday Tiff and Jess took me out for lunch. Of course Daylee and Evan were there and I was so surprised to have Amber and Jaycie  join us again! We went to Sweet Tomatoes, one of my favorite places, and I ate so much I was miserable the rest of the day! Daylee and Evan made me the most beautiful birthday cards and you could tell they had put so much thought, and love, into them.

After lunch, Bill took me to Dick's sporting goods to buy some type of  mileage tracker, for my running, but we did not find anything so I will search the net.

It was such a fun Birthday weekend. Last night Aaron called and that just made it perfect! We had a nice chat and even though I could not talk him into running the Chicago marathon with us, we did talk about planning a BIG 60 party for next year.

I love you all!

One of my favorite Thursday Hops!

This blog hop is for animal lovers.

Halloween!

I have always loved Halloween. When I was a kid we could take off ( by ourselves) at sunset and not return home until nine at night. We would have our pillow cases full of candy and homemade goodies from neighbors in our subdivision. My parents did not have to worry if the candy, popcorn balls and cookies were safe to eat. It was a fun time with not a worry or care.

When I had my own kids, I loved to make their costumes. Although, they will now tell you that too many times one was a Hobo or Witch!

Long, Long ago

Now, I have Grand Kiddos and their Mommies have to make the costumes and I love seeing the creative ideas they come up with! Since the grand kids were little, we always got together for dinner and then a night of Trick-or-Treating! Now as they get older, they want to be in their own neighborhoods with their own  friends. I think that is where they should be, having a great time.

several years ago
Now we are in a new chapter of our lives! As the Grand Kids get older  we will have to let go of the family parties and allow them to have fun with their friends as we did when we were their ages.

We Rock!

Crazy Times!
For now, I will dress my furry kids up and enjoy the season.

Chloe, she was not happy with me!

I hope to get better pictures this weekend when Bill is here to help me. Lets just say , it was quite interesting trying to hold the little critters and take the picture!

Chloe trying to hide and Cecil in his Devil costume!
I thought they looked so cute but I guess they did not share this view!

Cecil trying to get the hat off..he succeeded!
"Killing" his prey!
He played with this for about ten minutes!
Cecil kept throwing the Devil costume all over the living room then took it into his pumpkin.

Done Deal, one satisfied Hunter!
These two make me laugh. They are such a HOOT!  Hopefully, I can take more pictures this weekend and if they are really good I will take them to the costume contest at Pet Smart.
