4th day of 30 days of Thanks

Thursday,

Today is the forth day of thirty;  today I am thankful for the precious  memories of my family who have passed.  I am lucky enough to have my Grandmother's spinning wheel, and other pieces of furniture from her home, which bring memories of the many summers spent with her and my Grandpa.  These pieces bring comfort to my soul and are  tangible articles of all the memories we shared.

Did not notice the cats had added a piece of candle decoration  on the floor..Oh well, it is a fall acorn!
This rocker was in their bedroom.

My Great Great Grandpa's Immigration papers!

Grandma (aka Ma Eve) with Grandpa (aka Pa Walt)

I love the County look and was lucky enough to be the keeper of their legacy. I have many more pieces of furniture but will not bore you with the pictures! Although not monetarily valuable, the furniture, pictures and decorative items are what we have left of our family and hope, when the time comes, my children value them as I do.

  1. It's so nice that you have those pieces to remind you of the time you spent with your gandparents. I have only a few small things of my grandparents on each side. I was/am the "baby cousin" and all of the older ones ended up with the the bulk of what was passed down. That's OK though, I cherish what I do have...

    Blessings,
    Martha

  2. You truly are blessed to be the keeper of the legacy!! I love the chair especially. I had a couple of things from my grandma but unfortunately my house burned years ago and I lost them. I still cherish my memories of her and have since then acquired a picture of she and grandpa together. I am so happy you came to visit me. I am thinking we have many things in common. Am friending you right now and plan to come back often:)

Yes, I think we have a lot in common and I look forward to getting to know you! I am so sorry your house burned down, how devastating but at least we always have our memories!

That was really neat to look at. I'm so glad you had such loving grandparents that took care of you while you carried me:)
