It is Monday, the beginning of a very special week! I have waited almost forty-two years to meet my first born daughter and in a few days I will be able to hug her, look into her eyes and tell her how much I have always loved her.
This will be a new chapter in our lives. I am so excited to meet Dave and all the kids. Can you believe I have five new Grand Children to love and learn about! When I think about it it is overwhelming, exciting, unbelievable, surreal, absolutely the most wonderful thing that I could ever imagine would happen. It is so ironic the note, from the search angel, came the night before the fifth anniversary of my mother's death.
So, here we go! A week of new beginnings and hopefully the rest of our lives to continue the journey.
"The day" is exciting for my husband and myself as we get to thank in person the lady who gave us the best gift ever. Ironically, today we happened to see the lady who had had a baby boy the same night in McNary that you had Wendy. (Wendy always called him her first room mate) When we told her we were going to meet you this weekend, she said that that just gives her chills! She was so excited. She said she remembered you and that you were a 'little bitty thing'. Many people here are thrilled that you and Wendy will finally meet.
ReplyDeleteI so can't wait!!! These next few days better fly by or I'll go bananas:) I think we will have more pictures than we'll know what to do with!!!
ReplyDeleteDawna, Thank you so much for the kind post. What I have learned most from this journey is that God placed Wendy with wonderful parents. As a birth mother, you worry about who will raise your baby but I am so glad my Grandmother was right: The Greer's are the BEST! From reading blogs, I have come to know your wonderful family and how much love you have for each other, what a wonderful blessing!
ReplyDeleteI too have enjoyed getting to know you through your blog. I think the thing I (both Frank and I)always worried about the most and our greatest fear, was that the birth mother would try to come and take Wendy away. I am glad that our daughter Kristal has been able to have an open adoption and we have known the birth mom from the beginning and she has been able to visit and watch her beautiful little girl grow up.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't responded more on your blog. I tried twice the past couple of weeks and when I clicked to post my comments (which I had taken an hour or more each time to write), they disappeared! Uhg. . .I finally figured out that it was because I was out of town and not on my own computer and it didn't recognize my profile. Anyway, I decided I would just tell you in person :). See you soon.
I had decided years ago that I would not look for my daughter, not that I did not want to but I felt that I would never come between her and her adoptive parents unless they made the first move. The bond between you and Wendy will never be broken, she loves her Parents! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to get to know her. I have always told my family that the more people in our lives that loves us, and that we can love, the better life is!
ReplyDeleteI reread my comment and must rephrase. I had decided I would never come between her and her adoptive parents. The only way I would allow myself contact is if they made the first move. i think that says it better.
ReplyDeleteI understood what you meant :) . . . I told Wendy when she first found you that love is not limited, that it expands, and there is always room to enlarge our circle and take in more. Its amazing how that works.
