The weeks are flying by, I can not believe it is Wednesday!

Time to join a few Hops!

Mardi Gras Hodgepodge Style

Happy Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday or just regular old Tuesday!
Here are this week's questions for our weekly Hodgepodge...answer on your own blog and then hop back here tomorrow (Wednesday) to link with the rest of the party go-ers.
It will be like our own little Mardi Gras...see you there!

1. The season of Lent begins on March 9th this year...do you participate and if so, in what way?
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, I will go to church to receive the imposition of Ashes. " Remember: you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
Hopefully, I will be able to attend the Wednesday night dinners and Lenten services.  Today we started a study, of the book of  John, led by our Vicar.
I have not decided what I will give up for Lent..last year it was chocolate.

  • Lenten Cross with Thorny Crown and Palm
2. Traditionally pancakes are eaten on the day known as Shrove Tuesday which is the last day before Lent (March 8th this year). So....butter and syrup? Blueberry? Chocolate chip? ewww, no thanks!! What's your pleasure when it comes to eating pancakes?
When it  comes to pancakes, I like mine with butter and Maple syrup.  When the Grand kiddo's visit, they want chocolate chip pancakes ( I think that is Hubby's favorite) , some of them eat them plain, others like them with syrup! I do not know about you but chocolate chips and syrup is a little over the top for me!

3. Spring is coming. (It is coming, right?) What's your favorite springtime flower and do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Two questions I know, but they're lightweights.
My favorite Spring flower is the Tulip.  The tulip is not the first flower to bloom in my garden but when I look at them,  I know Spring is here!

I do suffer from seasonal allergies which bother me the most after a run!

4. "Our opinion of people depends less upon what we see in them than upon what they make us see in ourselves." Author unknown. Agree or Disagree? Why?
Well, this is a tricky one! I think when we first meet someone, we form an instant  opinion that is derived from the gut.  Speaking for myself,  usually my initial reaction, or perception, of a person is  accurate.    On the other hand, I have read that sometimes we see the good, or bad, in ourselves in other people which can make us change our opinion.
I just confused myself!! Here is a  cartoon to make up for my convoluted answer!

5. Since it's "March" and also the season of Mardi Gras....have you ever been in a parade? What's the best parade you've seen?
I was in a parade in Missouri.  I was the Den Mother, for my son's Cub Scout Troupe and we marched in the parade..that was many moons ago! The best parade I have seen is the  Disney parade.

6. You would jump up and down and shout for joy right now if someone told you___________?
I would jump up and down and scream, not shout, for joy if someone told me I had won the LOTTERY!!!   There is a group of us at work that have been playing the Lottery for years.  Although we have not won more than a couple $$$ , we continue to play. I just know if I drop out, the remainder will end up winning! I feel stuck!

7. How clean is your car on the outside? Inside? Is there junk in your trunk?
Thankfully, we did not get the snow that was predicted,  my car is clean both inside and out!  No junk in my trunk..no trunk!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Earlier tonight, I went to my granddaughter's play. She has been taking acting classes for the last few months at one of the Community Center's.  The  instructor allowed the group to write the play after giving them certain criteria which had to be included. I was so proud of these preteen girls, the play was well written and performed. It was a fun night..especially for the Grandparents!

  2. We all chip in a dollar at work when the lottery gets to a large enough amount. We never won while I was working, they never won after I retired, and they haven't won since I've come back part time. But we all dream anyway!

What a wonderful moment that must have been to see the play your granddaughter's acting class wrote/performed. How proud you must have been.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  7. This is the first year that I have had ashes on my forehead for Ash Wednesday. In fact, I have never participated in an Ash Wednesday service. I am really excited about Lent this year. I am hoping to grow much closer to the Lord!

  10. Your granddaughter has had a remarkable experience writing and acting in her groups play. How fortunate you are to have been able to have shared this with her.

  11. I swear we are related somehow.....so many of your answers could have been mine as well. Totally agree with you on the pancakes - the thought of chocolate chips AND syrup makes me a little ill. Completely forgot the Disney parades or I would have included that in my answer!
