Funerals

Today I went to the funeral of Brenda, my daughters ex mother-in-law, who passed way too early at the age of 68.  Although she was her ex..you would never know that.  Erin, my daughter, spoke with Brenda a couple times a week and saw her usually once a week. Brenda always made sure that Erin knew she was still a part of their family.   Now, how many times do you hear that?

The service was beautiful,  a tribute to a woman that everyone loved. She was the rock that held her family together and she will be missed by all, especially her husband, John, who she was married to for fifty years.
Chris, her son and my ex son-in-law, gave the eulogy which was funny, heartfelt and brought the essence of the true Brenda.

My fondest memory of Brenda was at my son Shawn's wedding. My father, who passed six years ago, coerced Brenda into drinking a few Martini's.  For a woman that did not partake, as Dad did, this was maybe a tad too much for her. Well lets just say, she had the time of her life. She was sitting on a ledge with all us GIRLS laughing and talking..we had such a great time that night. Unfortunately, the next morning she was a little under the weather. My dad, and mom, loved Brenda and for years threatened to come back to Colorado and take Brenda out for Martini's! That is one great memory!

One thing for sure, she is now in Heaven with her savior. I wondered if Dad and Mom were at the Heavenly Gaits waiting for her..I am sure they were!
